Mutsu is an excellent dessert, salad, and cider apple. It has a sweet, light flavor when cooked, and it holds its shape well. Mutsu can grow quite large (a pie may require as few as three apples). Its skin is yellow with a slight orange blush, and the flesh is white to pale yellow. Mutsu is one of a small number of varieties which really is dual purpose - being both pleasant as a dessert apple (albeit too large for 1 person) and versatile in the kitchen.
We usually start picking Mutsu the last week of September until the end of October.
During harvest season, we are very busy keeping up with local orders. We do pick some Mutsu for storage in our refrigerated cooler. We do not ship this variety.
